Hey fellas,

there seems to be a fuel leak either under the car or close to the fuel pump. I can't visually see any signs but there's a strong fuel smell in the cab when the car is running.

In the past I would get the odd whiff of fuel every now and again - especially after start up - but the last drive I took, the smell was overpowering enough to have to wind the windows down. Also, the fuel gauge was noticeably heading south as I was driving the 10km or so to get groceries.

I don't drive the car as much - working away and all - and prefer to use the Mrs wagon/bus when I'm home so it's been difficult to monitor but there's definite signs of a leak.

any ideas?

cheers.

There was a factory recall for fuel lines on the firewall leaking - that would give the symptoms you describe.

Thanks for the reply and also thankfully, what you mentioned was not the case with my car.

I did however discover the return fuel hose from the rail to the regulator had lots of very fine hairline cracks. This part of the fuel line was installed by RPW when they upgraded the regulator - really poor quality sh*t. I had to be wearing a headlamp to detect the cracking as before I was doing it without enough light under the hood.

I've replaced that section of the line and so far, it's been good with no fuel whiff to speak of. Hopefully, that was the only source of the leak.
