Very tempting. These things will only go up in value as time goes by.

nice price!
I honestly can't see the TMR appreciating in value though, then again I'm sure GTHO owners once said the same thing.

good if you want to through in a collection,
i looked at this one because of how cheap it is, few things need doing to this car,
-brakes seem to be almost gone, you will require, discs, pads, pad shims, and possibly a brake reco/overhaul kit. (mabey tmr if they still have)
-tyres on this are cheapies so i would chuck them out and get good stuff
-shocks are suspect and there no longer avaible through tmr, mabey got another 10,000kms left in them
-suspension bushes
-an overall service would be needed (fluids, filters, etc...)
-spark plugs are suspect, (usally 100,000kms but being forced induction mabey require more often changes, im not sure on the tmr engines)
-super charger, suspect (service usally required with these after 70,000-110,000kms, complete rebuild kit and labour usally cost more then the charger it self), plus gaskets and spark plugs...
-oil seals could be one of those things you dont know when its gona leak
but this cars interior/exterior is in perfect nick.....the owner did take care of this baby thats for sure, but im guessing owner relaised cost to bring the car back up to scratch and estimated about $15K and said *** that so traded the tmr in for something else....
it does have high kms, and i have not seen a tmr with that many kms on it so im guessing it was used as a daily driver...
if you plan to invest and keep it for storage/drive 3-4times a year id so go for it, but as a daily it would be shame to see that car get abused by sitting in traffic....

Just because a car was 1 of 20 - does not mean it will appreciate in value. In my view these will be practically worthless is 10 years time - just like all the other 380s on the road now.

1996 HSV GTS-R... Essentially a VS commodore with an engine swap and some race bits... They made 80+ of those, and they are now selling in excess of $60k...

380s don't have the "race/hero" and RWD heritage of "Australian" Holden, Ford or Chrysler that appeals to the masses that like a big car, and they don't have the following of the turbo Japanese cars. Hence I can't see TMRs appreciating. THE 380 whilst a great daily driver car was not inspirational or popular with the masses. Lancer performance models are a more likely vehicle out of the Mitsubishi range to maintain hero status.

exactly - only a handful of people found the TMR desirable when new, only a handful of people find it desirable now, and even fewer people will care about it in 10 years time.

They are holding their value better than an XR6T or SS commodore of 2008 MY

The more accurate comparison would be to FPV and HSV cars at the same price point when new. I think modern/late model Aussie cars with their increased electronics and complex componentry (more difficult to maintain as they age) and absence of real racing heritage (aka Bathurst) are likely to never appreciate like the old muscle cars, at best they will depreciate at a slower rate.. Also the prices of falcons, holdens and chryslers of the 60s and 70s are in large part driven by baby boomers buying the cars of their youth that raced the mountain and impressed mates and girls back then. I doubt the TMR vintage young generation have the same affinity with cars today and the TMR never generated the same public status.

iirc after 3 years they still couldn't shift all stock and had to give the last one away

in 2008 the XR6T / SS commodore were selling around 45k new compared with 60k for the TMR. considering they are selling for around the same price now I really can't see that as holding better value

Still one sitting brand new at The local Mildura Mitsu dealership. 150kms on the clock. Mine side has slightly faded as it was on the window side. It's kinda sad. For $50k it's yours

LOL...as long as you bought a new car to go with it.

No one paid 60k for one.
TMR380 has better brakes and suspension than an XR6T or an SS.
