Hi guys and gals, my daughter just bought a TJ Solara and I am sorting out its various issues for its RWC, she happened to ask me yesterday if the driving lights from a Sports/Verada could be fitted to her car. I have the driving lights here from a wreck I scrapped a few years back, so my question is this, if I buy the combination switch from either a Sports or Verada is the wiring already in place for this?. I know I can hang the lights with no problem but I don't want to run some crappy little toggle switch or the like and run a second relay, just hoping the wiring already exists in the current loom.

Great site. Thanks in advance.

Terry.

I guess no one knows the answer to this, I will strip the column down and let you guys know if this can be done or not.

You are a bit vague as to what you want to run and use
Are you wanting to swap the std lights for the verada lights,
Then a simple wiring mod at the plug will work

Or are you wanting to install the fog lights and hook them up to the std switch
I'm fairly sure that all stalks were the same and had the fog lights switch on the stalk

Get back to us detailing more specifically what you want to do and are trying to achieve

This thread may provide some clues for retrofitting the fog/driving lights:

Hmmm I think I will strip the column down and have a look myself, it is the 'fog lights' that I'm wondering if the wiring pre exists for, I can obtain the combination switch easy enough from a wreckers.
I was just curious if the wiring was already in place as 30 years ago this was a very common theme on Japanese cars, they would have one loom for all models, IE entry model to fully equipped and if
you wanted to add something it was simply a matter of obtaining the part and plugging it into the existing loom.

It was worth asking :)

No, wiring for the driving lights is not pre wired.
You will need to install wiring between switch (stalk) and fuse box on engine bay.
There is a provision for the circuit there and relay socket as well.

Most TJ already have the wiring from the stalk to the fuse box, just do what was shown in the linked page and you will be good to go
