my 98 Magna blows air but no heat, as I understand there is a flap to allow air to to pass through the heater or remain closed, can I access this flap without removing the dash ?

I just want to turn the heat "ON" please !

Update - Damn ! After reading about the heater core problems I checked under the bonnet to find the heater has been bypassed, no heat for me :(

Looks like your in for a dash out job. Not hard, but time consuming. Make sure you have a day or two(if your not overly confident with cars) and somewhere undercover if the weather is poor

I was able to remove my dash in 40 minutes after having done it many many times, my issue with Mitsubishi here at Morphett Vale took a week to get me the heater core, elbows and seals. I would say allow a weekend but if you have tinkered with things in the dash before it will make it that much easier as you'll be more likely to remember how it all goes back together.

Getting it done by Mitsubishi generally costs $1800, If someone were to pay me to do it I would never charge that much.

The heater core is located in a box behind the dash, dont listen to anyone who tells you the dash doesnt need to come out. The seals are normally what leak in the core and from Mitsubishi they are about $8 for the pair (as there is two) however the plastic elbows that the heater hoses screw onto get very brittle so its worth getting them too and I got another heater core aswell just incase. I think all about it cost about $165ish in parts and a couple of days. If you do it you will need a Torx Security screw tool $7 from Autobarn to remove the elbows.
