I am currently preparing my daughters TJ for RWC and am wondering if the rear wheel bearing assembly for an ABS can be disassembled?. There are two types of wheel bearing kits one for ABS that comes with the ABS strobe and one without, my question is can I R&R the ABS strobe and save my daughter $200.00 by buying the standard bearings and fitting her old components??.

Thanks in advance.

It's a PITA to disassemble & not worth the effort. Better off getting a complete assembly either 2nd hand or new, with the ABS ring already attached, from mal at mitsfix. Whereabouts in VIC are you?

I'm in Ballarat, I was quoted just under $500.00 for both sides but managed to get good quality new units for $320.00 for the pair.
I took your advice and just bought pre-assembled units.

Thanks heaps guys.

Good choice, pre-assembled is the way to go. I fitted a new pre-assembled unit to the wife's series 2 TJ sedan last year & it was much easier than trying to dismantle the existing assembly - press ABS ring off/on, fit bearings etc etc.
