Bought a 1999 magna altera sedan 6 months ago and since then the fuel gauge stoped working then the trip computer followed by the speed alert. I have reset the computer by disconnecting the battery, but no luck. It has also started to serge around 2000 rpm. Can anybody shed some light on these issues for me before it requires a auto electrician. Cheers

Trip computer and speed alert both need a signal from the gearbox sensor that delivers speed - if the speedo works this is unlikely the problem.
The range to empty on the trip computer needs to know the fuel level - and obviously the fuel gauge does too, so maybe the fuel level sensor has failed or the wiring to it has a fault and that is causing the Trip Computer which also does the speed alert to shutdown.

Digging up this thread. I have the same problem, i went to the drags and after one run i broke 2 of my engine mounts and after that fuel gauge and trip computer stopped working. Is there any wiring that is shared between the two that could have been damaged?

never mind. it was the harness that got somehow disconnected from the trip computer. All fixed
