I have a couple of questions about the front lower control arms, firstly what was the reason Mitsubishi had some LCA with the large blot that holds on the large rear bush and some don't, I just bought a second hand lower control arm and it doesn't have the bolt but the ones on my KH Verada do. Also can you mix the two type as I'm only replacing my L/H one. Also I have read that the ball-joint can't be renewed the whole arm needs to be replaced, is this true or can it as the arm I bought the ball-joint seems worn and the rubber boot is split.
Cheers

From what I've been able to pick up, the LCA with the nut was used only in the Veradas and USDM Diamantes. The significant difference seems to be in the nature of the bushes, with the nut type likely to give behaviour more in keeping with the luxury marketing.
While you may well be able to physically mix the two types, I can't answer whether it is a good idea.
I gather that the issue with replacing the ball joint is that it is pressed into relatively light gauge steel, and the ball joint mounting will be structurally weaker than the original due to the working of the metal during the replacement.
My understanding is that the nut type LCA are no longer available from Mitsubishi while the pin type is (or was until recently), though I think that MadMagna has indicated the reverse.

I have the pin type in the left hand side and the nut type on the right hand side, car is driving fine so I'm not too worried. I have a TF Magna also and it has the nut type LCA. The pin type I bought was supposedly out of a TL.
Thanks so much for your reply WytWun, very much appreciated
