One more question for the experts on here.
Went to the shops this morning decided to check auto tranny fluid level when i got home, went through the manual procedure all ok.
Whilst I had the bonnet open, noticed a lot of steam coming from the radiator cap, temp guage is normal, car has used a little water. No leaks under car and had a look no water around area of water pump. I'm hoping just needs a new radiator cap. Mechanic isn't open sat so was hoping to get an answer here. Are these caps available at places like Autobarn or Supercheap ?

Thanks for replies guys

Thanks prowler
I'm hoping that is all it is, the cap is the original. No oil in water and no water in oil. minimum loss of water about a litre last checked it 2 weeks ago, nothing else I can think of that might cause it and for steam to be escaping from the cap it leads me to think it is just the cap

Also check the top tank for horizontal hairline cracks between where the top radiator hose connects & the radiator cap.

Thanks Magna driver, Just did that no signs of cracks, drove down to autobarn picked up a new cap drove home about 8klm opened bonnet no signs of steam, neighbor came over, did you overfill and spill water when you topped it up. I said possibly. Perhaps water was laying around bottom and it was that steaming from heat lol.. sometimes we look for things that are not there. Anyhow new cap wont hurt
