From what I understand you shouldn't roll an auto in N as parts may run dry and get damaged.
I can't help with your actual question

Lots of people think that if you roll in an automatic that it will asplode into a million little fibers. No. This will not happen. Parts will not instantly run dry. Transmissions will not asplode. They manufacture them to an acceptable standard. If they did not they would be liable for being a sh!t manufacturer of dodgy made vehicles and nobody would buy them and they wouldn't be allowed into Australia. Australia has good high standards for how things should be made.
This is different from say 'TOWING' at highway speeds for many kilometers. That is bad. It will definitely get ruined then. If the engine is running, you can do almost anything with your vehicle in neutral though. The engine running keeps the hydraulic pumps working delivering vital transmission fluids. I have a lot of first hand experience in automatics going down hills that are several kilometers long in neutral at highway speeds with the engine running. No dramas. I also find myself in a particular situation where I kill the engine and can roll from the top of a hill to my parents house and it is over a kilometer long. No worries. Everything is still lubricated and that short period of time does absolutely nothing to the transmission. I have videos. I also have a transmission with over 300 thousand kilometers on it with no repairs or faults or any signs of ageing.
In summary, short distances are fine, contrary to everybody else. Long distances with engine off is bad.

I really need to find that video of me rolling down the main street (slight downhill) sitting outside on the window sill with my friend doing the same on passenger side quoting South Park and how I am driving a Hybrid and how it's better for the environment. Thaaaaaaaaaaaanks!
