How difficult is it to get the side airbags from from an L or W series 3rd gen to work on earlier models that didn't come with this option?

would need a whole loom change at minimum and of course the airbags. however im sure its illegal in nsw(not that any officer would care/realize lol

I think Mal done this to the car that he built from all the best bits of Magnas.

I have done this, I spoke to a few people about this at the time and the legality really came down to this, if they are there they have to be connected and work, my scan tool showed all bags and pre tensioners there and working so that was pretty much the end of that argument in that case. Given I changed every loom in the car this made sure it was all set up as per factory.

Mal, is this more trouble than it's worth?
And from a legality perspective, can't the side airbags (the front seat ones only) be removed?

I should have elaborated a bit, my interest is in primarily fitting L/W front seats in a J series car
