hey all, I have a dead motor for an 05 kl GVTI 3.5 Verada and wondering what engines I could put in it.
will a 97 magna engine fit?
or even a pajero V8 engine?
any help would be appreciated.
cheers

An engine out of a 97 magna will have different cams compared to an engine from a TJ series 2 onwards & will obviously have more km, wear & tear. Not sure about a Pajero V8??. Another 3.5 from a TL/TW would be my preferred option or if you have sufficient funds check this thread out:

what about a 3.8?

If you want to put a 6G75 or non-AWD block 6G74 into an AWD the block will need some metal removed so that there isn't an issue with the transfer case. This modification isn't difficult if done before dropping the engine in place.

How dead? What is wrong with it? What did you do to it? Any conrods sticking out of the side of the block?

Often fixing the original motor is cheaper than swapping engines, but it depends on how you define "dead".

not sure, a usless mechanic couldn't diagnose it, Mitsubishi didn't want to look at it.
ill ask around some more but feeling a little rejected about the whole thing.

3.8 works for me, what do you suggest?

Maybe a WA member is close by & could have a look/diagnose it. You could then compare repair costs against mitsfix shipping a 3.8 engine, modified to fit the KL, to your LOC & having someone do the install/set to work.

Get a second opinion, what are the symptoms, what happened etc

We can ship motors no issue, munkeymanz has also fitted a few and may be happy to assist you in fitting

Aside from the 3.8 motors I also have an AWD 3.5l motor here ready to bolt in as well

To state the obvious, we really need to find out what is wrong. No point changing the motor if it is the ECU that is having problems, for example.
So, what happened, and what does the motor do now?

Rejected? Maybe you mean "dejected"? Yep, normal; car not going, don't know what is wrong, that sinking feeling, yep, been there! Most of us have at one time or other, I'd think.
