Which model were the side air-bags first introduced? Was it the TL?

TL series got the side airbags.

Also seatbelt pretensioners and the H frame in the roof.

I wonder if that means seat covers for a TJ won't fit a TL. i assume they wouldnt have a hole for the side airbags, although I suppose i could cut one.

The TJ seat covers (verada included) won't fit any TL. The rear seats are even different. The base is a different shape, different seat frame, different fixings in different places.

Seat covers for cars with seat airbags don't have a hole where the airbags are, they do have tear away stitching on the sides where the bags are. They are labelled as such.

I see. I know that Wikipedia mentions that they altered the profile of the front seats in the TL, but i didn't know the differences were that extensive.
