Hi all,

My wife told me to look at the water which is on the floor (driver side). I checked and omg I was shocked and concerned (don't know how to post photo). We on just bought our TF, the car runs really well and I am enjoying driving our TF.

There was a puddle on the driver side and rear drive side floor only. Passenger side was dry.

Interestingly the driver side has some rust under the rubber seal however this rust is near the bottom of the windscreen. Could it be a combo of rust and rubber seal req replacing or is the problem bigger than that

I appreciate your thoughts

The plastic leaf guard across the bottom of the windscreen does NOT stop water from entering - the water that enters through the leaf guard into the plenum chamber should flow out some pipes behind the rear edge of the mudguard. Remove wipers, remove leaf guard, and see what is going on.
From past threads water can enter the cabin past the bonnet hinge mount, or perhaps there is a lot of rust/junk in the plenum? Open it up and have a look!

Thanks
excuse my ignorance when u talk about plenum u aren't talking about the plenum chamber on top of the engine.

Are u referring to the space underneath the wipers etc.

i am new to the home mechanical fix it ur self. Learning lots thanks to your willingness to share ur knowledge

Yeah, the big boxy space under the wiper arms. It holds the linkages for the wipers, at one end (passenger) side there is a box to separate water and air, it is the fresh air intake. At each end of the space there are drainage tubes for water. Have a look in that space for rust holes and blockages in the drain tubes.

or it could be coolant leaking from the heater core

"or it could be coolant leaking from the heater core "
That cannot be - the front passenger side floor is the only dry area inside the car. That is where the heater is.

Easy way to check if the water is from the engine or from elsewhere is to dab your finger into it and taste it. If it tastes sweet and rather yucky, (also if it is green), it is coming from the engine cooling system. If it is clean tasting it is from other places - either outside or from a blocked condensate drain in the aircon.

Coolant smells sweet - no need to go tasting it.

Hi madmax I think you are correct in your diagnosis, we have had about 40+ml of rain and there is a puddle cover the entire floor area of the driver side. I check quickly the area u mentioned and noticed that the rubber seals on the black guard need replacing. There is about 5ml gap between window and seal.
