Hi all, I am the delighted new owner of a 2002 VR-X with around 220,000 country kms...having spent its life on a very dusty farm, I'm spending a bit of time getting it cleaned up and ready for RWC.

Some of the body kit at the rear drivers side is a bit ill-fitting, probably due to broken attachment pegs? It's only a small gap, you can see it in this photo.

Anyway, I'm wondering if there is a recommended (flexible?) adhesive to bond it back to the body? I've had a look around the forum but haven't found anything about this yet. Thanks in advance for your advice!

Sikaflex

I agree with Sikaflex, 227 is probably the most popular for simple auto bonding and sealing.

I just read up on Sikaflex which is the big brand name in Polyurethane sealant. Nothing but high praise... besides when it gets on your hands (wear gloves).
Also, is your mufflers tip missing? I cant see it in the pic.

Thanks for the replies, I'll give Sikaflex a go :)

The farmer apparently didn't like the big ol' standard exhaust tip, so it has the sad downturned twin pipes until I can replace them!

Mask off bodywork sections where you don't want the sikaflex to get onto, with masking tape. Let it dry, then remove masking and trim any protruding Sika carefully with a stanley knife. Use masking tape to hold bits in place while the Sika sets. Or perhaps support that bumper section with the car jack(?)

Also used on windscreen installs. Installer of my most recent windscreen showed me this trick - if you find yourself tempted to use a finger to spread it, lick that (ungloved) finger first, so the Sika doesn't stick to your finger.

if you have
sad downturned twin pipesthen ,oh boy...you are down on kw.

That is just the std ,quiet ,restrictive oem muffler....

Go get a proper VRX/Sports/GTV muffler or a Redback or Lukey rear Muffler.

I have been tossed up whether or not to get a slightly bigger tip than the stock VR-X tip, though it hard to ditch something that definitely suits the car. So I do envy you a bit... I wonder if you will feel the power difference upgrading the muffler. Anyway, welcome to the club!

Awesome, thanks all for the advice - I bought some at SCA in Ballarat yesterday (very lacklustre assistance there, compared with the North Geelong team that helped me out last week), so hopefully I'll get at it soon. She's up on the hoist at the garage right now, getting checked out for the RWC, fingers crossed we pass with flying colours!

That's great news about getting more power with the proper exhaust, I'll start looking round for a replacement. This girl hasn't been lowered, which I'm grateful for; as it is, I'm driving around quite gingerly, taking care to avoid further damage to the front spoiler - I made the mistake of thinking that not *hearing* any scraping sounds on the kerb meant that all was well...when I reversed, the spoiler didn't want to join in :/
