Hi guys
I know this topic isn't exactly new but it seems a while since anyone asked, and parts availability may have changed.
For some years, my TF 3.0 Auto has had an aftermarket sports exhaust from free-flow cat to the back.
The rear muffler was replaced recently when the old one died.
Both setups have awful droning as revs approach 2000 rpm, which means almost all cruising. So, every drive starts with a fun roar and then settles into a very annoying constant drone.
The change of rear muffler made no noticeable difference, and the cat is too expensive to replace (?), so I assume a new resonator is the cheapest way to reduce the drone?
I'm not too fussed if it means a slight performance drop: my car isn't exactly pushing the limits anyway, the sports exhaust was more for fun than racing, so to speak.
What's my best option to kill the constant drone as much as possible?
Thanks!
