Hey everyone, hows it goin ?

anyways, does anyone know the price of a clutch-kit and the associated labour with installing one ?

i'v got a mate who said $530 for the kit, and $300 for labour...which seems like a decent price to me

has anyone had to replace their clutch in here ?

if so, if you don't mind, would you be able to give me some prices so i know what type of price they usually go for ? cheers

god damm yellow sticker is eating up my money ! :slap:

Thats an awesome price really. Coz i know mitsu clutch kits are 850+ and heady duty ceramic etc are around 1050+

Just make sure your getting a new pressure plate (clutch cover) with your mates price. As for fitting, 300 bucks, bargain coz the FWD clutch install is a C~nt of a job!

hmmm, i know its not a magna but a mate of mine got a heavy duty clutch from daikin for his MX6 turbo (4 cyl). which cost $450, and included the pressure plate. and the labour to install it was $300 aswell.

for the $530, like aussiemagna said, make sure it has a pressure plate included in that price. but yeah, seems fair the price u have been quoted

when i was up the coast on schoolies week i rooted the clutch on my TR so i had to get that done while i was up there. The only place i could find was a servo and they put a new PBR clutch and machined the flywheel for $570.... THe one i got done a couple months before that cost $530.. but thats a TR so yeah the 3rd gens probably cost a bit more... soon to find out but :(

hey madmik im in west australia, but dont worry everyone, i got an even cheaper quote, through a workshop in balcatta, who quoted me 695 fitted over the phone,

i thought this may be too cheap, so i went round, showed the place my car, he inspected it, and i asked what the his clutch kit included, he said the quote was for a complete clutch kit and machining of the flywheel, plus labour..... which amounts to 695, so i quickly made a booking before he could change his mind lol

btw, for anyone in perth the place is called "quick-stop brake and clutch centre" hopefully he doesnt ring me up and tell me it really costs 1000+

thanks for the input and replys guys

But do you know what type of clutch he is giving you i'd check to make sure it's not a dud :doubt:

Yeah check the type of clutch, that it comes with a new pressure plate.

Hrmm i was under the impression that the third gen flywheels can't be machined. They are a really weird design.

MadMik

Blake it was only machined slightly due to one of the pressure plate springs braking free on the flywheel side and scoring the flywheel. So it was only to remove any burrs etc

If you want to save some money you could try a Repco unit and install it yourself...

i work in the clutch and brake industry just to dispell some rumors

* $695 is a good price for fitment and labour but be carefull what clutch is being fitted if it is a valeo clutch it isn't worth jack**** - they are only good as frisbees

* Repco clucthes are made by pbr any way so there wont be a drastic difference in price
but they are still about $690 rrp off the top of my head - o.k for normal driving not much else

* I think the mitsubishi stock clutches are daiken by memory and mitsubishi sell them for about 750 approx - i have one installed in my car seems to be ok though it is starting to slip once provoked - but thats my driving and burnouts etc,

* me personally next clutch change i am going to get an xtrme heavy duty - cusion button clutch you cant go past them if you are going to abuse the **** out of your car i put one in the missus s15 200sx and i can clutch the thing in forth gear with 16 pounds of boost and it snaps out on you ask Jo_king as he has been in it. i recommend them to all my mates and fit them to all hi-po cars that we get and no one has had a problem with them

* i can also get steel flywheels for third gens if any one is interested

yeah, i thought it may be a bit dodgy, but the place had a huge ad in the yellow pages and gives a 20 000km warranty , is an rac approved mechanic etc. but i still reckon it will get fried once more power is added lol

if i had more money i would definetly get as strong a clutch-kit as possible hehe,

Did you know that a majority of the running gear on magna's is by PBR check out your brakes when your have them off next time or it's up on a hoist. As for the clutch though unless your in a small country town i think that the brass button clutches are definately a pain in the preverbial to drive around in thick traffic

1994 ts second gen.

daikin heavy duty clutch kit: $230 (there was a little discount there, usually about 320ish)
labour: $100 (was a friend of mine, but it only took us 3 hours to do, so a pro should have in done in that or less)

total cost... go figure ($330 for the people that couldnt be bothered thinking =P)

well all isnt as is seems , unfortunately, the guy rang me up and said that i had a 225 in there instead of a 215 or somethign ( i dont know), and that the previous owner put some sort of daiken clutch in there and they had to modify the flywheel to make it fit, so now the original cheaper clutch kit will not fit ,

the quote is now a bit higher (tad under 1k) for just the daiken clutch kit... no labour ! lol

does this seem right ? or am i getting ripped off?
the product number is 240-5195 , if that helps

all replies are appreciated

Hrm thought you might run into problems with a price like that.

The price sounds about right, just make sure they include the clutch cover with the kit.

But when your spending that much money, its only a couple of extra hundred to get a cermaic clutch put in instead (i've seen your driving benny, you'll need it!)
