messing about with some cool air intake ideas for my tp efi and if you have ever had a look at running ducts to the air box its a ****ing joke i think mitsi just said screw it can suck in the air from here it will get a litttle from around the headlight, but for $2 ? :bowrofl: well heres what i have come up with, got some rubber pipe off a carbi astron 2 at the wreckers on my lunch break its the one the runs from the aircleaner to the inner passanger side guard (anoter great mitsi idea) for $2 heres what i done

On the end where it has the dog leg (the end that clamps onto the air cleaner snorkle) i cut off where the clamp go's on so i still have the 90 degree bend with a little bit on the end but no cuts in the sides of the rubber pipe so it wont close up, on the other end i cut on about a 30 degree angle oppisite way to the dogleg bend (will see why soon) now to get it from the airbox to clean air? well the dogleg bend end slots nicely into the airbox that runs around the battery to the aircleaner bell as for the other end i done a small mod :) looking down along the left hand side of the radiator mount (next to the battery mount) the metal has about a 2 inch opening heres where the other end of the duct (butchered rubber pipe) will go, bend (do not cut) the metal here to make the opening wider to fit the duct through the pipe wont be perfectly round but a snug fit and sits just at the front of the radiator the angle of the cut i done exposes this end of the piple square to the front of the car for better air pick up.

did it help? well running at idle i can feel it pulling in air from the piple so that its working, 0-60 kms not noticable, 60-110 seems to have more torque er 110-150  seems to get there about the same amount of time it takes me from 60kph to 110 huge difference here seems to cruse at 110 easyer now my foot seemed alot higher up than usual on the old go baby pedal

ill run it for a week and decide if it stays or not but hell for $2 im not complaining

I was thinking of making a cai out of the heating pipes for my car. Cuz the ones under the dash have the same sorta opening as most cai's and it would just be a matter of grabbing some piping. It's a good cheap idea that works, good work, i might just try it as well :)

looking down along the left hand side of the radiator mount (oppisite the battery mount) the metal has about a 2 inch opening

I have a Carbie TP, unplugged the rubber pipe from the guard and stuck it down through the same hole next to the radiator. Havent noticed any difference though

Dim, try this. Take the rubber hose thing off that connects to the airbox assembly and the inner guard. next (may b a pain in the ass but its worth it) undo the radiator brackets. as u look at the car from the engine bay, there is a small shield type thing that is supposed to be a splash guard. take this off. the pics below will show u wat i mean. this will make it alot easier for u to devise a CAI for the carby's. it dosent take too long, and its worth it.

best thing is its free... pffft $2 CAI wen u can do it for free :P

Yeah i was thinking of doing that when i actually get my pod (ordered it about 4 weeks ago, stupid Uni Filter apparently havent sent it yet  ). At the moment though, I think ill stick with the rubber hose poked through the hole :)

A ProComp 2 stage filter, trouble is I ordered it through the distributor here in Tassie, who waited about a week for a couple of other people to make orders, before they put the order through to unifilter but for some reason the paper work got lost (or something) and it hasnt arrived

thats pretty neat except it still has to swirl around that box (cuts down noise or something right?). I read this just after having a drive and getting pissed off that with 3 or 4 in the car it just DIES on the hills.

that plastic thing that you've hooked the rubber pipe up to is like tring to breathe from a straw, i took that off the first chance i go so i;d rather run some ducting from there to the front rather then through that plastic crap.
