OK, so I didnt do it properly, probably should have consulted my manual BEFORE taking rocker assembly off, so what can I do now?

I didnt put the engine at TDC compression for the number 1 cylinder, so is this why its not running properly now? I know i shouldnt have touched it, but i wanted to fix a seal up, which I did lol but now this...

Any help appreciated, where to go from here? Can I now put it in TDC compression and take it off and refit it, or is it too late? I did to the best of my knowledge, put the rocker assembly back on in the correct way...

Noob mechanic

the front rocker assembly:

I have from the drivers side: Cap NO.4 - 3 - 2 - 1 (passenger side)

Probably should also add - some of the "lash" things fell out... the hydraulic tappets?

Put them in the right way up, not sure about order on two of them... Pretty sure a couple of them I compressed by accident if that makes a difference...

I did drive the car around the block too, stopped missing as much but smelt like burnt rubber and water coming out the exhaust... only went 40ks/hr, acceleration, even minor caused lots of noise from the rocker cover...

wont be driving it again... i think i killed it
