Hi so, I'm having no end of problems with my 98 KF Verada
I get some knocking/harshness/clunking when changing gears, either up or down shift. In the past 9 months I have:
Auto transmission flush (at mitsubishi dealer with mitsubishi fluid)
Replaced front control arm bushes
Had loose wheel bearings tightened up
Had front CVs + driveshafts replaced
tyres replaced and balanced
wheel alignment done
Barely seems to improve. Another issue is that at very low speed, it seems to have a hardtime overcoming a bit of resistance, so sometimes it can be difficult to take off smoothly.
I was going to go put some new tyres on today, as I also get a fair bit of vibration at random speeds/situations. I thought I'd just pop the car up on jack stacks to see the drift shaft action whilst changing between Neutral, Drive and Reverse.
What I found is:
1. Drivers side shaft BARELY turns when in reverse. Passenger side spins relatively freely. Even when I depress the throttle, the driver's side barely turns.
2. Seems to vibrate quite badly in drive, especially at speed.
I am really at a loss to figure out what the hell is going on here. Is this a sign that bearing are completely shot?? Are the brake pads too tight?
Or is this a gearbox problem? Which if so, then I guess it's time to get rid of the car, but I really like these Veradas and I'd rather not get rid of it (but the $2500-$3500 I've been quoted to replace the gearbox just isn't worth it).
I've posted some videos below to try and demonstrate the problems. I've always found this forum particularly helpful so anything you guys can contribute would be greatly appreciated.

Is this a normal amount of vibration in the driveshaft or is something wrong?
Cheers
