So after much debate, and a self mechanical newb job rendering my 2nd Gen, TS unserviceable, possibly DBR, i purchased a 2000 TJ Solara Advance, with just 60k on the clock. Drives like a dream compared to the TS. Just waiting on finalisation of the roadworthy! Pretty chuffed to still have a Magna  wont be trying anything overly mechanical on this one...

Only 60K ? Great buying! Must have been owned by an elderly person. Check that the timing belt has been changed because even though it hasn't travelled the required distance enough time has elapsed to make the change necessary.

Other than that...enjoy!

Thanks mate. Had wondered about belt when looking through history. Didnt see it as having been done but if not, got it for a great price too, so an extra cost early for piece of mind isnt too much fuss... will check more thoroughly after i pick it up! Yeap owned by am elderly gentlemen since new.

Cheers mate, already planning a family road trip to the Barossa Valley in a months time!

Congratulations,
What did you do to the TS that rendered it unserviceable?

Magna_Lad...ask the ex owner if the belt has been changed. If it hasn't then get over to MadMagna's workshop in Bayswater and get it done. I think he quoted something like $650 for the job which is dirt cheap and you know that he will do an excellent job. Get the water pump changed at the same time.

I also bought another Solara for myself as my missus drives our original Solara. Mine has done 120,000km and is in very good cosmetic nick. I paid $3200 for it (private) but I've had a lot of work on it since... timing belt, new bonnet struts...etc...etc...

My original car is Riversand (coffee cream metallic) in colour...the new one is Sienna Red (metallic maroon).

Sent Mal a msg, just in case. Sadly the car is from a deceased estate type scenario, so Im dealing with his son in law. Definitely no reason whatsoever for suspicion in the situation. From what I saw its definitwly upto date with services etc etc. Manual folder was full of old service receipts.

I like to name my cars, so Im going to name the car after ita first owner. A fitting tribute id say!

My favourite colour scheme is the metallic indigo type green, with the beige interior...
