I'm planing on buying a 1999 Verada for parts (mainly for climate control and power windows) Seeing how I will have the entire car, rather than just a bunch of parts how hard would it be to convert my car to have climate control/power windows. I understand it will be a dash in and out job but should it be a matter of just swapping over parts? or will their need to be soldering and re-wiring to do?
Thanks
ps. If any SA member is willing to help, we could work out some kind of payment method - beer, monies etc :D

Hey dude, check my build log I have done this exact thing and I took many pictures along the way.
Firstly you need either a KE or KF (Ei would be easier than Xi, unless you can get the Xi central locking remote with it too) Verada as the other models will be quite a lot harder to do it with.
Secondly is yours manual or auto and what is the donor car?
Reason I ask is you are best off swapping every loom over to also get cruise while you are at it, so you would be removing and swapping the:
-Engine Loom
-Dash Loom
-Floor Loom
-Door Looms
The only issues I ran into besides a straight swap was that the Verada thermo fans had either one extra or one less plug, I just cut and soldered the TE plug onto the Verada loom or vice versa.
You can if you want also add SRS Airbags, you will need to put in a dash with the passenger side cutout for the airbag, and the SRS ECU.
Mine is manual and my donor was an auto so I had to go to the wreckers and find a TH Sports which was manual and had cruise to swap out my non cruise manual loom for.

I believe the Verada I'm looking at is an Xi as it has the leather options, the parts would be put into a TE Auto which does have cruise control (idk if thats going to cause more issues)
I would be getting the whole car (Verada, which includes everything, keys etc) would that make the job easier. Is the Xi harder only due to central locking or?
Thanks

The XI uses different plugs on the door loom (really only the drivers door) but if you are putting power windows in you will be swapping the loom anyway.
The Xi remotes cost over $300 retail from Mitsubishi hence why I asked about the remote, I used a loom from an Xi and instead of buying the Xi remote I fitted an aftermarket alarm and then....well thats a story for another day.
I believe the Xi did have an extra plug on the door looms for a different locking style to the Magna's however I used my TE exterior door handles and just taped up the extra plug that I am not using, that may or may not cause a problem with the Xi remote, but I dont think it should. However if you do have an issue it will be very easy to fix it.
The climate control has wiring that goes out to a switch in the engine bay, if you use the Magna engine bay loom you will need to run the wiring from the climate control unit to the switch, which IMO is the hard way if you can just swap the engine bay looms over to negate the need to custom wiring. (Excluding the thermo fans)
Also if you did a full loom swap you can take pride in having all the little things have that the Verada has that the Magna does not, and it doesnt get much easier than just simply unclipping and swapping wires.
-Key barrel light
-C Pillar light
-Etacs unit to dim the lights
-Clock in the dash
-Wiring for the automatic antenna
-Dash mounted midrange speakers
Sure you will be able to get some of these just by doing the dash or floor loom, but still the Verada Xi had many little things that you dont realise until you have them.

If your buying a 99 verada you may have more issues that peaandham had as I believe they changed a lot of bits over from kf to kh. I'm not certain but I believe the one luke used was a ke of kf

Yes, I used a KF Xi, dont bother trying to use a KH or onwards for the swap, its too much hassle. Get a KE or KF for a swap.

What's different with the KH Xi/onwards that makes it such a hassle?

I put TL power windows in my TE, I'll be fitting the cruise contol soon.
I found it easier just to make new looms and patch them into my OEM loom.
Running the extra door wires was as simple as just pinning a few more wires into the factory plug on either side, then connecting where i needed.
Pretty easy with a factory wiring diagram to follow.
Its only 1 power wire and earth to the window switch module, 3 wires to the rear doors and 2 to the front doors.
I did consider changing the whole loom over, but then i'd have to change EVERYTHING, and to be honest, the car just isnt worth enough for that, i could just buy a later moder and swap my good bits into it.

Wish my plans would allow me to get away with things that easily. Will be moving over effectively the entire interior including Climate Control, Blackout Cluster, Power Windows, Chromatic bits, etc.
Will take note of that though, if plans change that will make the windows easy as pie.
