*I am looking at purchasing an auto dim rear view mirror (haven't found one for sale yet.) for my magna which currently has the standard mirror. I was looking online and found that all TJ magnas already have the plug so it is a direct plug and play for my car (I think?) What I am wondering is where is this plug located and how to I get to it to install the auto dim rear view mirror?

No magnas have this plug. You need the mirror, and the roof harness from a Verada. It plugs into the fuse box.

Do you know of any wreckers that currently have a KJ Verada?

My KH Verada has this but I like the standard Magna rear view mirror more, I find cars lights still seem very bright at night, not sure if theres something wrong with mine or its just how they are.

Theres a couple of 3rd Gen veradas (although the window on one says 2000 magna) at pick a part in campbelfield. Cant remember if the mirrors are there, or the wiring sorry...

Mine work perfectly and really make a difference. Rarely notice bright headlights from behind anymore.

Best bet would be the one with goLd duco, although just an Ei if that makes a diff... Towards the back on LHS, one of the last rows of Magnas. The other one I remember, is an Xi, middle row, towards back, dark metallic green, was pretty stripped back already, grey interior. Gold one at a glance had most trims in it bar the woodgrain, I got the chrome handles out of it and ground door light bulb holders, has the sandy beige interior... Ill prob check Harveys out near frankston next weekend, so Ill let you know if anything is there...

Center Road wreckers (IMLACHS) in Springvale have a few Verada's. From memory they were earlier than KJ. They did have an AWD which I think may have been a Verada. This was just 2 weeks ago.

Nah, only the interior and drivers side.
No passenger mirrors were made by Gentex. Also, Gentex sells these mirrors for a variety of vehicles. If people want one, they can buy them directly.

According to their website their ringwood site only has pre 2000 veradas. I am looking at getting the chrome grille out of the KJ verada at Dandenong tomorrow. Anyone know if the grille and or the mirror is still in that vehicle? I so hope that grille is still there!! $24 instead of $100, count me in!!

Yeah I spotted that Mal, the thing is i dont really have the money at the moment so am looking for less expensive alternative (i hate being unemployed.) So I'm going to grab the chrome grille and auto dim mirror from a wrecker if I can but then i run the risk of things not working or being damaged.

Nothing at pick a part in bayswater, had a look today. Only two veradas. Im thinking maybe only the Xi had the auto dim? Cos either someone put lots of Verada gear on a lower model, as one of them had a normal mirror and had either woodgrain painted black, or it was standard... iare the standard console trims orange underneath?
Anyways, the other one was pretty much a shell, everything but the poor condition chromed handles gone...

Went there today to get some driving lights. Yeap two there, both with auto dims... both built in 99. Love the biege leather interiors... think the blak one is the AWD, wouldve been an awesome ride.... before it got rolled! Looks like it ended up on its roof!

Is it difficult to remove the mirror and wiring? Do you think its a diy job?

Almost everything is a DIY job for the right person.
If you have no experience, learn. Go to a wrecker and get familiar with removing the headlining. You will then find the plug going into the fusebox.

I know just from common sense that the start of removing the headlining involves removing the sun visors. And to remove the plastic on the A pillar all you need is a flathead screwdriver. Which wreckers have a verada with the chromatic rear view mirror?

you dont need a screwdriver to take the A pillar off....just grab it at the top....pull outwards..there are two tight clips...DO NOT PULL ALL THE WAY OUT FROM THE TOP
Once the clips are unclipped ,you need to PULL THE TRIM UP to remove it from the tabs at the bottom

I'm pretty sure the auto dim in my KH isn't working, is there a way of testing it in daylight? if you cover up the sensor on the back and the front of the mirror will it work like its night time and dim? cheers

Went to IMLACHS today and found an auto dim mirror but couldnt work out which plug in the fuse box it was? Are there any step by steps on how to remove it? The drivers seat was all the way forward so access was terrible and because it is electric and they had removed the battery.... I couldnt move the seat or remove it. Ah well

I am looking at installing the auto dim mirror I bought from raner, (thanks Ricky!) just wondering, I know you have to run the wires through the A pillar to the drivers side fuse box. Which plug do the two plugs go into? would be easier if I had a picture or description so I could do it myself this weekend!
Thanks Guys!
