Hi
I have just bought a Verada Wagon (2003 230k). The Traction control off, engine, and SBS lights keep coming on what seems like randomly then off again next time. Some times all ok for a few johnnies, then I might have SBS on a few johnnies, then ok againand...and on and on. Car seems to run real nice. It is due a service.
Just wondering if it's a known problem or indication of something?
Cheers
Gaz

SRS maybe? LoL

When I first bought my wagon I had the same thing although the TCL light seems to some on more as the weather warms up. The SRS Light my auto electrician said was a seatbelt but the lights back on every now and then so he has to have another look at it soon. What I was doing is when the TCL off light was not on I'd drive the car to induce the traction control so it got used a bit.

So find a Auto leckie who can not only scan but find the codes and interpret the issue, it's cheaper than a dealer.

A bad voltage regulator on the alternator can throw up issues like this.

I remember the service guy at the dealer saying that exact same thing not long after we bought our TJ new from Geoff Brady Mitsubishi way back when. There was a guy at the service desk in front of me when I went to pick up my car after its first service and he was complaining about the same warning light issues. (Gee my memory is good for an old bloke tonight!!) I also remember the service guy saying that they would first disconnect the battery and then reconnect it, recoding the radio etc to see if the issues went away after such a "hard reset" of the BEM.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Are those diagnostic machines Mitsi specific, or for other makes too?

SRS (no subtitles required if not SBS) and TCL both will come on if an ABS sensor is faulty or has a bad connection, the check engine light always comes on at startup so maybe normal.

ABS wheel sensor failures are quite common across ever make and model of vehicle due to the violent and hot life they have on the wheel hubs, not sure if there is a way to diagnose which sensor is faulty on these cars individually
