Hi guys, im Steve.
Been a member for a while now but this is my first post.

My wife and I own two Mitsubishi's, an 01 TJ VRX 5sp manual in Sienna Red with 180k's and a white 96 CE Lancer Coupe 1.5l, 5sp.

I bought the VRX a little over a year ago with 160k on it and since then have done the drivers side engine mount, the water pump and housing, timing belt and tensioners and replaced the rocker cover gaskets.
All of the above was done by myself after researching how on this forum, so I thank all those who's contributions have helped me out.
Currently the VRX is awaiting a new exhaust, which brings me to my first question.
Can someone point me in the right direction to a link or a part number for the bolt on rear muffler section that will fit the VRX.
I also need the intermediate pipe as mine has rusted out, if anyone has an idea of where to get that.
I'd like to fit it all myself with off the shelf parts if possible.

My second question is with regards to our Lancer.
A few weeks ago I jumped in and noticed there was no clutch pressure.
I checked the M/C which was full and watched the slave cylinder as the wife pumped the pedal, the S/C rod was moving slightly but it seemed as though it was fully extended.
I gravity bled the line and immediately got pedal pressure again.
this lasted for a few days until the pedal went away again.
I repeated the bleeding process and the pedal came back.
The gearbox shifts fine although when the pedal is soft it is hard to get it into 1st or reverse.

The car can still be driven when the pedal goes soft and I haven't noticed the clutch slipping but I've only had it since the start of the year and it has 220k with bugger all history so im not sure if its original.
Im thinking a stuffed Clutch Master Cylinder or Slave Cylinder.

Thoughts?

Steve

I've just walked into the local parts place and they got the exhaust bits in for me.
Easy DIY job, some silicone spray on the rubber hangers will allow the rubber to slide off easily.
You may need bolts and nuts to join the rear muffler section to the intermediate pipe, the aftermarket bits never seen to include the nuts the original has welded to the flange of the rear muffler.

Lancer clutch, definitely the master cylinder. Clean out, replace rubber cups, or buy a new one.

Stroppy: I paid the same for a rear muffler at the local parts shop.
Last 2 links are for the engine to cat pipe, he wants the cat to rear muffler pipe and resonator.

Aside: These pipes do rust out, not at the muffler but at the outside of the bends of the pipes themselves. I ran a second gen sedan and wagon for years, never needed to touch the exhaust. Third gens = step backwards. I've had to replace both these bits on my 2001 TJ and 2004 TL.

Yep...that's right. Repco and, I think, Bursons will order in anything you want. Dunno about Autobarn and Supercheap but I suppose they will do the same.

Cheers for the reply.

The muffler in the first link is the standard one, I need the single straight outlet to suit the VRX.
Im sure I've read on here somewhere that I can buy an over the counter Lukey box and pipe to the flange to suit it, just cant find the thread it was in to get the right part number.

Thanks MadMax,
Your right, my intermediate pipe is rusted out at the bend before the rear suspension and the tail pipe has come clean out the back of the box, totally eaten out.

As for the Lancer, my Wife was quoted $270 today to do the master cylinder, slave cylinder, but I can get the master cylinder for $80 from my parts man and should be able to fit it myself easy enough.

Will have to take it easy on it until the weekend and then have a crack.
