Hi I'm in the process of building a fiberglass sub-box and I'm finding it hard to find the right materials I need to have to do the job.

Therefor I was wondering where you guys buy staff from? such as fiberglass, vinyl fabric, glues, body fillers that are good for fiberglass finishing etc...

There are fiberglass supply shops that sell all that.
Also places that make bodykits sometimes will sell this stuff.
And even Bunnings should have most of that stuff

Dont buy from bunnings, by the time you buy your second 1L of Resin you could have bought 4l from a proper supplier.

I always use these guys, and they will post for you too.

Firstly get plenty of these.

4kg of Polyester Resin will see you out. You will also need some MEKP as the hardener

You will need some acetone and a fiberglass roller too.

Then you need to decide on a type of matting, chopped strand is best for this sort of work, I use the 450gsm, the heavier you go the less coats you will need but the hard it is to get it to conform. Id made the base and baffle out of MDF, save the amount of glassing you need to do.

Body filler, find an automotive supplier, I normally by 4L of the stuff for around $30-$40, I use either Upol or Rage Gold, both lightweight and easy to sand.

The box needs to be strong enough that you can stand on it without it flexing.

I've been told to try boat repair places.
yellow pages list heaps. I don't know if/how many would sell the consumables, but I'm sure they'd deal with large quantities, so be a bit cheaper than some places.

That's what I thought, apart that Bunnings only sale repair kit !!

Thanks for the site links, it will be very useful and handy that they can ship to here (Geelong) too, since i work office hrs and most of these suppliers close by 5pm.
