Hey all,

Im about to replace the stock stereo in my 2000 TJ, which is wired to the alarm system, and has a flashing light on it. I like having the flashing light as a deterent, is there a way of hooking that up directly from the factory alarm unit, and setting up a light elsewhere?

Cheers

. . .which is wired to the alarm system, and has a flashing light on it.

"Yes" on the flashing light, "no" on the "wired to the alarm system".

In short, you can replace it with any brand of radio without problems. Bonus is, no radio code needed every time you disconnect the battery!

Hey, I forgot all about that light! Whats it mean anyway? That the security system is on? Is that a signal from the ECU?

The light on the standard radio is not connected to the ECU, BEM, Security System or any form of Alien Intelligence.

It is simply there to say "Don't bother stealing me, I'm protected by a security code."
A long, long time ago, CD playing car radios were favoured by thieves. They were worth a lot of money. Not these days.

Thanks for the replies. Had wondered if installing after market would mess with the alarm...
