Got a friend she waiting for approval to become a member btw who just bought a TF Exec.

She is in the middle of doing a little service on the 3.0 when it turns out some fool put an oil filter in place of the trans fluid filter and she cannot get it off.

She's tried the screwdriver thing ..... any ideas and worse will the thread be ok for a proper trans filter to go on or is an oil filter ok for a trans?

Silly question but is it being unscrewed in the right direction?
Sounds like it may need the filter body to be cut away (tin snips) from the sealing end that holds the seal. Leave enough material so you can grip the side of the filter with a pair of vise grips and fold the sealing end up slightly so as to not distort the threaded part of the body but enough to loosen the oil seal from the sealing face prior to unscrewing. Will need to check the thread once the filter is off. Not sure whether an oil filter is OK for a transmission.

She got it off just waiting for news to see if the threads stuffed or not.

Just curious - what is the part number for a trans filter?

I wasn't there to view it and it's all sorted now either way.

I always thought the trans filter was smaller than an oil filter.

Yes they are different in size but at the same time they are both spin on filters.
