View Full Version : Oiling plugs, KS Verada

Hi guys,
Have a persistent misfire in my Verada. Generally at idle, like it's dropping onto 5 cylinders (sort of a stutter). Tacho needle flickers when it misses. The miss goes away if you pull it into neutral or turn the A/C off - i.e. reducing the load at idle. Changing the plugs on the rear bank (of course) fixes it for a week or too. Plugs come out a little oily.
Anyone have experience with fitting hotter plugs to a 3 litre V6? If so what sort? I hope this may delay the inevitable. Car has 265,000 km and had stem seals fitted 60,000 km ago.
Thanks,
Dave

What else have you checked in regards to spark plugs? Have you checked your leads? And the dizzy cap?

And if they're coming out a little oily you're better off fixing the source of the problem rather then band aiding if you're gonna keep it for a bit longer that is

Thanks for the reply..
Nah, I'm afraid I've reached the fully reactive, band-aid phase. Leaking oil from the bell housing and front crank seal as well so I'd say its days are numbered.
Had leads, cap, rotor and plugs not too long ago which perked it up for a while. It has always been a bit "missy" at idle since I've had it (16 years) and no one seems to have managed a fix that would last.
If changing the plugs on the front bank solved the problem OK, but the rear is such a pain... Hence hotter plugs to burn the oil off?

Unusual just for the rear bank to be oiling only.
Engines wear evenly mostly.......Vee
