Hi guys,

Never had a problem with the air con up until today.

I turned it on, and fan ramped up for a second and then cut out.

As I turn the air con on now I hear a faint noise that sounds like a puff of air, then nothing. As it is a hot day, on the display it shows the fan is trying to go full blast, but no air is coming out.

Any ideas what has busted, and how much the fix would be?

Cheers,
Justin

Fan speed controller/fan resister most likely. Common problem in the 380 and tricky to get to under passenger side dash. Part about $140. I'd recommend mechanic rather then DIY if that is the problem.

Getting it looked at today, and has been identified as a faulty resistor.

Problem being, they said it could take 4 weeks to source the part! :(

And this is at an official Mitsubishi service centre.

4 Weeks, hell, we have them on the shelf here, brand new and genuine

Mits makes me laugh when I hear these things

Seriously? Man I wish I saw your post before I went and picked up the car. I''ve paid for the part, but I think I might contact them and tell them that they can source it locally.

Just to double check, on my paperwork they have written, "Identified fault in blower fan not working - traced to faulty fan resistor - nil stock in Australia - will have to order parts and re-book".

Where they mention about the faulty fan resistor, is that definitely the part you have in stock?

Cheers,
Justin

Got it fixed finally. Was a bit of a saga. Had to order the part and wait for it to come in. I had the car booked in on Christmas eve as I wanted to get the air con fixed before I went away. I dropped the car off in the morning, an hour a later I get a phone call advising me that it wasn't a one day job and I would have to bring it in at a later date to leave the car in overnight. I was somewhat surprised considering I had booked it in to have this specific issue fixed.

Booked it back in January, and made sure to book it in overnight. Dropped it off on day 1. Got a phone call two hours later saying it was all fixed. They advised me the mechanic with small hands was working that day and they didn't need to remove the whole dash to fix it.
