Hey all, not sure if this is a wiring issue or problem with the unit, so thought id ask.

Installed a FXH755BT pioneer unit, which every now and again resets itself if ive had the car in acc, then start it up. Anyone else experienced this? The constant and acc wires, to the best of my knowledge are wired fine, as it doesnt reset everytime the engine is off. I do however recall, that these two wires (according to their colours) were in the opposite positions on the plug, compared to the diagram I got off the forum... and if it makes any diff
, the speakers are wired wrong lol. The diagram I found for pioneer didnt match up up to the mitsu one...

Having said all that. I have noticed, that when the car is off. I cant eject a CD. Maybe thats just a unit quirk but every other aftermarket unit ive owned, youve been able to eject a CD when car is off. Its like the constant isnt wired up, but once on, clock fine, no reset...

Any help appreciated. Cheers all

Hi, when you say it resets when you start the car (key goes from ACC to ON to Start to ON), do you mean it switches off and then starts up again, or that it resets and you lose the time and other settings?

If it's just power cycling, this is normal - happened on all cars I can think of. My headunit runs a version of linux, boot time is about 30 seconds so it's noticeable. Factory headunit did the same thing, but switches on in 1 second or less, so you probably never notice it.

When you start the car, I believe the "Start" position of the key/ignition barrel cuts power to the accessories, hence why it switches off.
If you're losing the settings when this happens, you'd also be losing the settings just when turning the key off and back to accessories and this would be caused by having the 12V constant and 12V IGN wires around the wrong way - yep, the red & yellow ones.

It's all fun & games - I just spent about 10 hours last weekend installing a DVD headunit with it's processor in the boot. Sooo many wires :)
