Maybe start with the Mitsubishi workshop manual.
Have you downloaded it?
Yep, done that, was hoping someone had a few other tricks up their sleeve that could help.

Does anyone have a rough guideline on how long the accessory drive belts would be expected to last? I know that they need adjusting/tensioning periodically though the belts themselves would deteriorate and I can't find any guideline in my service book. Any thoughts? Maybe just when a mechanic says they need replacing if you trust them?

Those belts are good for about 100,000 km or more.
By the time the rocker cover gaskets start to leak, the belts need doing too. lol
Look at the ribs on the belt, ignore cracking of the ribs, but if you see parts of 1 inch or more missing, they need to be replaced, according to Gates.

Thanks for your reply Max.
Mine haven't been changed in the last few years. I might check back through my records to see if they might be originals or otherwise. My TL has done 132 XXX km.
(I was leaking oil from the rear r c gasket until I changed back to 10w40 after a dose of 10w30!)

I bought a TL at 136,500 km. It already had new belts on it, so I imagine yours may be due, but look at the ribs on the belts for missing sections.

The engine was pristine when I bought it, but 100 km later it was obvious it needed the rocker cover gaskets replacing. lol

My belts are just on 100,000 old and still looking good with no cracking or missing ribs. Had a good look at the front one on the weekend as I was replacing the centre lock nut from the flat belt tensioner pulley... which fell off a few days ago! Less dramatic than I would have thought, just a rather innocuous little rattle not unlike the famous exhaust baffle noise. Belt started slipping as the tensioning bolt slowly wound out, otherwise I probably would have ignored it!
