Hey all, just wondering if the TJ VRX rear muffler jad a part number stamped on it, or is it (a part from the tip) visually different from the stock? Going to get a rear muffler from a TJ at the wreckers, that looks like a VRX, but would prefer to not get a stock with a VRX like tip...
Any vin details that I can check to see if its on a real VRX?
Cheers all

Yes they do have a part number stamped on them. I just had mine replaced last week but went for a Berklee equivalent. I got a quote from Mitsu for genuine new replacement but they wanted $701 so that was out of the question. I do have the OEM part number written down from Mitsubishi but I did'nt write down the number that was stamped on my old TJ VRX muffler.

Thanks for the reply mate! I got the VRX muffler off and it was rusted through on the top of the pipe bends. Was pretty disapointed cos i couldnt see it from underneath when i checked. Wasnt surprised though really, especially if its the original exhaust... was your new one a straight bolt on? Maybe better to just get new aftermarket... last longer.

You can always replace the pipe, the muffler itself rarely has any issues
Be careful with stealerships as well, these days most of them are selling aftermarket units at oem prices as they have nil stock of most exhaust parts

Yes this is what i should have asked them to do. Everlast mufflers did mine in Ridgehaven and the boys there did a fantastic job so very happy, but i was keen on keeping the original muffler. I should have asked them to do this. Mine had the exact same fault. Rusted out on top of pipe. The Berklee muffler they fitted is pretty much the same and i cant tell the difference in exhaust note.. They cut the tip off and welded to new muffler so it all looks OEM
