Read a couple of threads about this but is it just the TJ VRX models that get this? Or do all TJ have a Y pipe? My Solara has a pretty mean growl, all the time. Has the cold engine growl too but even after its warmed, its really throaty! To be honest, I like it but if its a sign of exhaust issues, probably should look into correcting it!
Cheers all
Oh probably should mention, growls under acceleration, id say up until about 2000 rpm its really noticeable, especially from around 1000-1500rpm...

All V6 magnas have the Y pipe. From TE to TW. 3.0l and 3.5l. Exec to Verada.
I had this issue with my wife's TF sedan years ago. Eventually, it seemed to disappear, or maybe I became deafer, I don't know. As far as I can see, the noise comes from a splitter vane at the junction of the front and rear pipes. It must come loose at one end and flutter. As more heat builds up in the pipe, it must jam somehow. Don't know what happened to it in our Magna, the noise seemed to go away. My biggest fear was that it would break loose and block the exhaust somewhere further downstream, but I never noticed any change.

Look at other reasons for the growl first:
Belts not tight enough. (Tension and adjustment info in the manual, or search this forum)
Idler bearing noisy. (stethoscope trick)

Cheers for the replies! Ill look into it. Going to check the throttle body and breather hose this werkend, give it a bit of clean.... nothing to do with the growl probably, but its time for oil/filter change, so may as well to a few things!
Cheers again
