I've recently purchased some LEDs for my 2001 KJ Verada but upon removing the light plugs I found that the bulbs are different from the ones listed on:
http://www.modifiedmitsubishi.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=38018
I understand I have H7 low-beams and H1 high-beams but the H7s I bought were too small to fit, although they were the same socket and the H1s were a completely different type of plug. The bulbs look the same from the back but I'm not sure why these bulbs are different to the ones I bought.
I don't have an owner's manual and the workshop manual doesn't say anything about which bulbs to use. Can anyone with my model confirm which types of bulbs I need?
Thanks in advance!

Umm LEDs?
Im confused, are you trying to fit leds in place of your normal headlights?
They never came factory with LEDs in the headlights....

I purchased LEDs but they don't fit so I'd like to know if the ones I bought (H7 & H1) are the right type. That link described different bulb types for the rear lights so that's why I want to confirm.

Do the H1 and H7 globes actually come in LEDs? Doubt it, somehow.
Got a picture or link for the globes you bought?
Whoops, yes they do come in LEDs.
Possibly you need an adaptor of sorts?

The problem is that there doesn't exist an adapter for the LEDs I bought. Given, I just found the biggest LED on eBay under "H7 LED" & "H1 LED" but what baffles me is that there should only be one type, yet these are completely different.

From the quick Google search and videos, there is a lot more to it than just swapping some globes over.
Got a link for the eBay ones you bought?

Do they have a built in ballast or something?
Not to savvy on leds for headlight use, but from what I have just been looking at they either have a built in ballast, which would make the back of the globe quite large, or they need an external ballast.....I could be wrong, but thats just from what ive been looking at....pretty much the same setup as HIDs....
I can only but assume the designation H4 or H7 or H1 or whatever, isnt restricted to only 1 type of globe...ie, a H1 led is completly different to H1 halogen

From what I could see from removing the lights, it was the tightening screw around the back, then there was the spring mechanism holding the light in place, and then it comes down to the light's metal prongs sitting in the water guard (Which I could not remove from there).
A quick Google image search gave me the idea that indeed there is a ballast but it's within the casing and the water guard which is probably why I couldn't fit the bulbs. I just need to find out how I can remove the bulbs from there.
Unfortunately no one seems to know how on the Youtubes so I hope I can get a little help from you guys.

H1, H3 & H7 respectively:

My best guess from Googling and dismantling the back of the lights is that these go into a ballast and that's what I'm seeing being connected to the power.

H1, H3 & H7 respectively. My understanding is that they go into the ballast which is what I couldn't get out of the water guard.

Those are far from suitable for low or high beam. If you really wanted led headlights, you need high powered led globes. If you dont see a fan on the back or at least a large heatsink, chances are... it is not powerful enough. To my understanding, led headlights are the same as hid's in regards to the need for a cut off. Otherwise you will bother other drivers. Here (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CREE-LED-40W-4800LM-6000K-Car-LED-Headlight-Kit-Bulb-Lamp-H7-New-/121437945110?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c4643fd16) is a link to leds which are high output and would at least "somewhat" be suitable for headlights. As far as light output goes anyway. Id be curious how they work out, but Im guessing you need the projector and cut off.

OMG almighty.....you have just wasted your money big time.....
if you have a Verada the adapter you speak of is on the std globes ,but ,those things are never going to fit in the hole anyway.

I think the adapters are what I couldn't take out. I knew the LEDs weren't very good with lighting so I went for the biggest ones I could find. I really hope that I can find at least SOME use for them v_v
Does anyone know how I can get the pictured adapters out of the headlight assembly?

Im not sure what you mean... the H1 globe goes into the H7 adapter. When you unclip the adapter, it and the globe come out as one as a regular globe would. They can then be pried apart. As for a use for your purchase... They will remind you to do more research before you buy something. That is a use of sorts :P Cheap monetary mistakes are the best kinds of mistakes!

Some of the $80 to $90 kits on eBay look good, but with the large heatsink on them, there may not be room to use them. Not much space in there.
The ones linked above look more like low powered replacements for fog lights. To quote from one of the links: "H1 LED driving Fog Turn light lamp bulbs"
Another link describes them as "Power:6W Lumen:600-720 LM" which is not suitable power for a headlight. A reasonable torch, maybe.

The other thing to consider is the beam pattern blinding other drivers with glare. (Its important otherwise they may drive into you!)
AFAIK we cant just fit LED's or HID kits because our lamp assembly doesnt cater for the correct cut-off and the resultant glare can be very bright. I also vaguely remember reading somewhere that it may in fact be illegal to retro fit them, although I dont recall where I read that.

Modifying headlights so that they cause glare to oncoming (cop) cars will get your car defected, to be sure.
Then again, not much chance of that with those weak globes the OP linked to.
