Hi guys just recently got new tyres and noticed an occasional shuddering of the wheels and steering at around 100kmh usually with cruise on.

Had a wheel alignment and balance done, seemed to go away but get the occasional shudder.

Just curious as too what else might me causing it, ill take it back to get them to do it again. Its not a huge problem just slightly annoying.

TJ S2 Ralliart 235/40/18 size Hankook Ventus tyres.

Cheers.

Nr km on the car?

Any particular road surface type it does it on, or does the slope of the road surface affect it?

Does a slight accelerate or brake stop the shudder? 5 KPH slower or faster?

Not the tyres, if they have been balanced and aligned correctly.

Seems to stop when brake and nearly 150,000 kms.

I had a cyclic shudder at a constant speed of 100 kph on a particular road, with a particular slope on it, and nowhere else, and not at any other speed. (TS, 200,000 km.) Turned out to be the ball joints. Replaced them and fixed the problem.

Not saying this is what is wrong with your car, but it may be worthwhile looking for play in the steering and suspension components up front?

There's a whole list of problems that it could be.. I had the same problem, I put new tyres on and my car started to shudder at 105-115, turned out to be C.V joints.. But as stated above this was what was wrong with my car, so just a suggestion to look at also

so did it only start after new tyres went on...? If so go back and get them to re balance the fronts.. Get them to check the balance to see what its like before they pull the old weights off, that will tell you the problem. If wheel is out by 20grams it will create a shudder at speed.

I had a similar 90-100kph shudder on my old TH that turned out to be engine mounts of all things.

Double check all your wheel nuts. My young bloke got new tyres fitted to his TJ. Developed a slight vibration about a week later. Found the wheel nuts were barely on more than finger tight.

I expressed my disappointment to the tyre fitter in the strongest possible terms.

I now use another tyre service.

Check the simple stuff first.
