Did you turn the car to "on" while you did this?

I did to take the car for a drive to make sure the steering wheel was straight with out the air bag attached

This logs a SRS error which can only be cleared by a dealer. (But I'm just repeating info from previous threads)

Check with a local auto electrician first to see if they can do a system check / clear the error code. If not then speak to Mitsubishi.

I had a talk to a policeman a few years back. He was doing a roadworthy on my car at Regency Park, Adelaide. Not just any check, the full works, as it was a repairable writeoff from WA that I had fixed, and it had to pass all checks before being registered in SA. One of the things he checked was the SRS light, but it performed as it should - on when ignition on, but off soon after. He explained that an SRS error would be an automatic fail. The system could only be reset by a dealer, and he would want a full written report on the whole SRS system being functional, before he could pass the car for registration.
So, in short, it needs to be reset by a Mitsu dealer, or someone with the right equipment. Just disconnecting the battery for a while won't do it.

Just take it to the local Mitsubishi dealer and they will hook up the Mutt3 or whatever it is and clear the code ...
you may be charged ,or ,if you are lucky, you may not.
Ring up a few before hand and find out.
