View Full Version : Boot Not Opening, Nothing Suspicious Visible?

The other day my Verada boot would not open from the glovebox button or the remote. The only way I can get it to open is with the key. I took off the fabric and the motor works just fine. I had a look at the cable and that was ok too. No fuses have been burnt either. This has gotten me real stumped and the mechanic(s) said they couldn't find out what was wrong.
What in the world could it be? Is the cable able to be snapped internally, and if so, what exactly is it made of?

Someone has flipped the white switch?
Cable snapped - does the motor work the unlock mechanism with the boot lid up? (use a screwdriver to lock it, test with remote)
Too much friction in the lock mechanism for the motor to unlock it - lube and adjust.
Cable is like the one on the brakes on a bicycle. Bit hard to break in normal use, but the ends can come off.

The white switch was the first thing I checked naturally. It still won't open on FREE. The motor does function with the boot up, but I noticed that it has a protruding bit which was faced up. I assumed it was meant to push or pull against something but wherever I positioned it, it wouldn't open either way.
I'm not sure if the cable has snapped as it looks intact. In terms of the lube, whereabouts should I put it? I'm considering going to the wreckers and getting a replacement part, but if I can fix it (hopefully) I would do that.

Another member has been having boot unlocking problems recently.
Hopefully, there will be some more help here:

This may be completely unrelated, but my TW boot door wasn't opening either recently. Motor was working OK, but still not unlocking.
After some investigation, I found the problem was the torsion spring which pushes the door upwards hadn't got enough force move it out the closed position.
Kind of like pulling the handle down on a door in your house but not pushing it open, before allowing the handle to return to its original position.
Anyway, it was easily fixed with a rubber tarp strap which adds some force to the spring.
