I'm poking around, looking for an aftermarket transmission cooler, as I plan on modifying the car down the road, and doing a bit of towing when I can get a tow bar put on.

I was looking at this (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TRANSMISSION-COOLER-RED-ANODISED-15-DUAL-PASS-S5051RED-/280977512321?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item416b909781), thinking either one or two of these would look real nice in the engine (especially with the other dress work I'm plotting on), though I'm not too sure about how effective they are.

Has anyone used a cylinder cooler like this before? Any benefit to them, or just a gimmick I should avoid and go back to a traditional blade style build?

If the cylinder is a bad idea, would something like this (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Universal-28-Row-engine-Transmission-10AN-Oil-Cooler-KIT-7-Electric-Fan-Kit-SL-/231302732195?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35dab799a3) be better?

If both of my ideas are crap, could someone point me to a known reliable one that will work with an engine that will be towing, and eventually modified and then towing some more?

Best off measuring up the space available and looking for something similar to this:

You don't want your ATF to be too cool either, there is a certain sweet spot in temperature.

I recommend a large ATF cooler coupled with a thermostat bypass, so that ATF is only directed towards the cooler if it is too hot, and if not it is bypassed

I have coolers in both my TL magna & my 380. I used similar to what Magna diver suggested. Make sure you measure up as stated and still run it via the radiator. I did a flush while I was doing it and fitted a magnefine filter at the same time. Remember you need 5/16th barb for the cooler & filter & NOT the more common 3/8th. You also don't need to take the whole front bar off as so people may tell you just the grille panel.

Unless you plan on mounting the cooler somewhere conspicuous, I wouldn't worry about getting something that looks fancy. Most tranny coolers end up being more-or-less out of sight. See the post & especially then link in:

Although the 380s are different, the principles are the same.

You'd only need a cooler/fan combo if you were going to mount the cooler somewhere it won't otherwise get enough airflow (e.g. under the guards or in the engine bay).
