Bit late to the party in 2015 but just bought a 380 almost on impulse. I already have TJ and a Verada KL GTVI but always wanted a 380 but have been happy with my cars so no need to change.
07 model series III with 46,000km. Paid just over 7k which I think is a fair price. Very straight car. Even drivers seat bolster is still intact and not collapsed.
Wouldn't have minded a 380 GT but owners of the lower mileage ones I was interested in are actually increasing the prices of their cars even though they have been trying to sell them for a few months now. I can't see anyone paying 12-13k for a 380 with 60,000+ km now but I could be wrong.
The 380 I bought drives very well so now have to sell my much loved TJ which I have had for 170,000km. Be sad to see it go. Other than wave spring failure at 100,000 it has been the best car I have ever owned.

Something similar has happened on a few 380's here in Perth. One 380 GT-L has increased by $500 over the last 3 months
You got a bargain...
What other car on the market can you buy with 60,000k for $7k with the reliability of a 380?
years of trouble free motoring...maybe a window winder or three and thats about it.

Wow Vik.
It's probably had more oil changes than tanks of fuel :)
I thought my 2007 Sports with only 70,000 was a youngster!

Haha.. possibly!!
I got it from north east mitu and they have done timing belt on this car 800km ago because of the age of the car.

Agree with the above - a helluva lot of car for the money!

Given the timing belt is done (and that's a $1000 job) you've really only paid $10500.
Well done!

I am definitely very happy with this car but it was sad to give my Magna as trade-in, which is btw advertised on gumtree for sale now.
Its nice to see that one of the photos is just zoomed in to AMC sticker at back!!

Vik,
(Sorry to hijack your thread Jordan, I'll just post this up then duck out!)
Per the meet last night, if you want a 90 mm intake snorkel for your 380 see here:

Thanks for this :)
Michael Pearce messaged me last night with the same link.
I spoke with the seller earlier today and as buying it for $70 on Saturday.
I am not impatient; just don’t want to miss it ;)

sometimes people renew the rego and up the price to cover it.

Yeah, I would agree with that.
I don't see it working as a sale strategy though. Car will just sit around run thru its rego whilst devaluing further at the same time.
I will be reluctantly selling my TJ series2. I owned it essentially from new (1,420km). It has no damage to any panel. All car park dents removed. Nothing on the car is broken. Even the garnish at the bottom of windscreen I replaced last month as rubber was cracking. Wave spring fixed at 100,000km at a cost of $2,500. Full synthetic oil its whole life. If something broke it was fixed and fixed well.
Just driven to Adelaide and back flawlessly. It has 170,000km on it now and I know it is essentially worth very little.
I reckon it should be worth at least 5k as it should be good to go for another 100,000 km easily, but I know the market says something different. I could list it at what I "think" it is worth and wait a year for someone to call or I could suck it up and accept that someone is going to get a great car at a price that does not truly reflect what its value to the user will be.

I know what you mean Jordan but unfortunately the market doesn't work as we wish,.... my motto is if you have a car older then 5/6 years with over 100/120K don't sell it, keep it until it dies, unless you are willing to accept low offers

Unfortunately people go "Hey, I can buy a new car for $20K, so your 380 should be cheap!"
They should really compare it with the price of a current Ford/ Commodore, or one of those from the same era and km.
I agree, keep it and enjoy it!
