hey all just seeking some info on this swap..

i'm looking at fitting the rear cradle out of a tl 2wd magna into my te magna exec..
basically doing it just cos it means i then have a rear swaybar.
and a few bushes namely my upper control arm bushes are worn.. was good enough to pass a rwc in october but i have since done about 12000k's.. so a fair few

so what i need to really know on who has done the swap.. apart the different cradle and lower control arm to suit the swaybar.

do the other control arms differ?

ie could i reuse my te stub axels\control arms where practical?

thanks for your help
matt

oh i'm fitting better springs in the rear at the same time too.
got myself some dobinson springs thanks to magnadiver.

just need to source shocks to suit now.

another reason why i want to have a rear swaybar is i like twisty roads and it feels too boaty\uncontrolled for my liking..
and i'll be swapping the front swaybar for one out of a tl aswell so both are suited to each other.

i swapped my tf to a tj sports cradle same reason your doing the swap, it was really easy, like its all pretty self explanatory when you start doing it

Ah cool. So I guess Mitsubishi used the same mounting locations up to tl

That's good to know its a easy swap in reality.
As at the moment I am considering rebushing the cradle before it goes in.
As I plan to keep the te for a while.

Drop the car in here, give is $350 and we will do it for you including the handbrake cables which are different on the TL, makes it nice and easy :)

what would it cost for you to supply? as fitting\swapping is something i can do easy enough.
and i am considering rebushing whatever cradle i get anyways. either going to use polyrubber (superpro) or std rubber.

also what is the difference between th and tl handbrake cables?

I would not waste a good rear end by re bushing it, most of the bushes are not available in rubber thus you would be forced to use the rubbish plastic stuff, will destroy any beneift you gain by using the later rear end

The cables were revised where they go through the hub as the older TJ and earlier used to break the bracket

The rear end on its own I can do one for around the $250 mark supply only, are out of low mileage cars, have one here with only 79k on the clock

i had noticed most places only sell the poly rubber..
however i am yet to have issues as the extra noise wasn't a problem for me. but i have opted not to rebush the new cradle anyways..
i'll revisit the idea if required down the track when i need to.

ah ok. good to know mitsubishi tried to fix the dodgy cable mounts.
i have broken them from abuse in the past myself.. as it was something i fixed prior to rwc last year.

re cradle mal.. i'll give you a call during the week to sort out a date that suits us both.
i am looking at getting you to do the fitting aswell. as i had a think about doing it, and i dont fancy doning it on my own as i have no one to help me

also a question for you Mal.. or anyone that may know the answer.

do the alternator's on the v6's differ on the 3.0's to the 3.5's?
like mount wise.. as i need to replace my alternator or get the th unit reco'd.
te unit gave up the ghost and from experience the mitsubishi branded ones are either expensive to recondition or they are too ****ed to fix.

luckily the th unit is a bosch unit but it has seen alot of k's and requires reconditioning itself..

i noticed the previous owner of my parts car (th) had slotted out holes on the upper bracket to make the 3.0 alt fit the 3.5 motor..
as my th was originally a 3 litre
