OK, some numbers:
I can do a whole car for $500.
People can pay $10K for a top job on a top line car.
Jo blow down the road can do it for $200.

Other people's experience/costs may have little bearing on what you will need to pay.

Get my point? Now, stop being rude and get some quotes!

As Max stated, its a fairly broad range. I can under that you want a ballpark figure before getting quotes, but no need to be a smarty pants  Neo is experimenting with using boat paint to roll on the whole car (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103192)

This could be a cheap option instead of a $3k full respray.

I got a quote for my TL last year for bonnet boot and centre line of roof and it was around $400-$600 per panel, that was for a quality panel beater job.. If the bonnet is only starting to fade it may still be repairable

Deano,

My best mate owns a very busy panel shop.

He estimates between $600 and $1400 for the 3 panels.

It's very dependant on how badly the paint is deteriorated and how far back it has to be stripped.

If it is really bad it may have to go back to bare metal. This is a worst case scenario, hence the $1400.

Hope this helps.

I've paid $200 so far to get my wagon done. Check my wagon build thread :ninja:

Thinking of doing my TF sedan as well one day depending on how it turns out

Thank you so much for your reply, that is a big help, maybe cheaper then I thought, the clear coat is deteriorating very badly and fast this summer

If you want a cheap fix and your not that fussy you can just scrape away the peeling clear coat, clean the surface and spray a new clear over the top. It looks okay from a distance and is not that bad up close.

Yep, one of my ex-underlings at work had a problem with her TH boot clear coat peeling, hubby sanded it back and resprayed it with rattle can clear coat from SCA, apparently nearly as good as new now.
As jimbo says a cheap fix if you're not too fussy.

I just dropped my GTV into a paint shop to get done, it's cost me $1200 for the roof, boot and rear bar. Along with a full cut and polish and a few minor touch ups.

It's expensive, yeah, but I shopped around for a few months and I found cheaper options, but they just weren't places I'd want to leave my pride and joy with for a week.

I know that they're going to do a good job, I know I can trust them and I've they're constantly packed. Also didn't hurt that they resprayed my Mum's old Soarer, haha.

But at the end of the day, a good paint job will cost money, especially a full respray, i've been told 3k for a closed shell around here (Adelaide eastern side)

P.S - Another thing to keep in mind is that paint shops will charge more for respraying panels which need to be removed i.e. boot lids, therefore it could be worth removing the panels yourself and putting them back on, just to save some cash.

I was quoted $450 to $900 for just the roof, I got some recommendations from a few people to get the quarter panels done at the same time as the roof so there is "No blemishes". Was quoted $1200 from one guy and $1500 from the another. They both said they needed to take if back to bare metal and remove the rear and front windows. I'm also getting a few dents removed (Hail or a tree impact) from the roof and a rusting scratch where a truck reversed into the side.

Was also quoted 300 for the boot lid by the $1500 guy..

So somewhere between $1000 to $1500 in my opinion for just the roof if you want it done right. (If what is said is the right way :P)

Hope that helps!

Sounds like he's having a lend to be honest, a roof shouldn't be more than $600 at the most, especially if you don't have a sunroof. The quarter panels are here or there, getting them done is usually another $500 on top, but what's the point, if you can notice a slight difference from the roof to the panels it's probably not worth it. Plus, i'm sure a good cut and polish will match up the panels good enough. Keep in mind that these cars aren't worth much, unless you desire to keep the car for the remainder of time I wouldn't bother aiming for a 100% fresh paint job, just do your best to keep it nice and respect the car as it ages.
Paint jobs can be all over the place when it comes to pricing, I can imagine panels beaters would rather deal with insurance companies than us seeing as they don't dispute costs as much.
