Hi everyone
I have a question regarding the window sash on the 3rd gen that always seems to split at the top. This is the black rubber/metal part near the side mirrors that the window track runs up to.
Mine is split on the drivers side but oddly enough the passenger side is OK

My question is how do you remove this part to replace it? I went down to U-Pull it the other day to do a test run there before I ordered in a new part from Mitsu (Going to cost me $260 each side)

Got to the car at the wreckers (TH Executive). Removed door trim, removed three bolts that I could see at the top of the inner door skin to loosen the sash there. After that could not find anymore and felt like it was welded or something further down the window runner so I couldn't get the damn thing out.

Has anyone changed these parts before and if so could you help me out at all?

Bump to the top. Mal perhaps you have some advice for me? Hoping that you might

If you are talking about the metal & rubber strip attached to the door, at the bottom edge of the wound up window, they are attached by two black screws at either end. You need to move the rubber slightly to see them. Once off, the strip just lifts up.

If you are talking about the metal & rubber in the door openings, that is quite different.
Rubber is one single piece, from rear to front and down the "A","B" and "C" pillars. Lots of screws to undo.

pretty sure he is talking about removing it from the triangle bit at the front of the door...

To remove the triangle bit, you need to take the inner door skin off, lower the glass, remove 2 10 mm bolts that hold the glass to the mechanism, remove the glass out of the door, unbolt the "sail" retaining bolts, wriggle it out the top.

(Been 4 years since I did that, so may have missed some steps.)

Window glass needs to go through the full adjustment procedure (see manual) when you put it all back together.

Thanks mad max. I knew there would be more to it. There always is

Important rule to remember for Magnas:

Time taken to remove the bit you want = 5 minutes.
Time taken to get to that bit = 2 hours.

Spent most of yesterday pulling out a TJ heater/Aircon blower fan, see above rule. lol

Going to revisit this now that I have read the workshop manual regarding this and hoping mad max can chime in again seeing as he has done this before

Why do you have to remove the glass? The delta sash has a retaining bolt/nut on the glass guide track about half way down. This is the one I cannot get access to.

I take it that the window glass guide track has to come out also so this can be accessed? I really want to avoid the door glass adjustment procedure. It looks complicated to me

And yes it is the RH side drivers door delta sash assy that I want to replace with new as mine has split at the top

If there is anyone in Adelaide that has experience with this then your more than welcome to a few beers at my place to help me do the job :)

Is there a bolt on the inside of the door metal, or on the leading edge of the door itself?
It's been a long time since I pulled one out, and to be honest, I pulled the glass out because I was stripping the door right down for repainting. So I don't really know if the glass can be left in.

Well I'm not at home to have a look (away for work) but from memory there was no nut that I could see on the leading edge of the door (where the striker is)

That would be too easy

From what I can read on the manual, the lower fixing point of the sash is on the front glass guide track itself inside the door skin

Due to this I guess the glass has to come out so the guide track can come out to get access to that nut

Most sane magna owners would just leave this but the split annoys the hell out of me. To make it worse I have dynamatted the doorskin massively so that's all going to have to come out too

The ones on my two Magnas have split. Adds to the character of the car. No plan to fix them in any way whatsoever.
