Hey guys,
Based on the reading and advice here(thanks) I replaced my fan resistor in my TL to get my three speed fan going.
However, probably only worked intermittently for 5 minutes and that was it no more low speeds. Still have high.
So did I get a dodgy resistor or have I got a far more sinister problem?

TL have the semi climate control system, what model did you get this resistor out of, may be you got a dud or there is another issue causing this to stop working.

It was a brand new replacement by part number off the old one. The two look identical. It's the one with the alloy vanes. As I said, absolutely the same fault quoted all over the forum but the resistor just didn't seem to make a difference.
If it is just a resistor bank, get a multimeter and measure the resistance between the terminals. Put a probe on one terminal and then go to the other terminals step by step. You should have low but differing resistance as you move across the terminals. If you don't, you have an open circuit and it is a dud resistor bank.

This will not work the same on the Climate units, I would be getting the car checked properly as you could be there for ever paying for parts, someone like us would simply test and replace the required part and be done with it

Thanks folks. Having a think about it could be as simple as the fan control switch itself? Could the fan speed contacts of speed 1 and 2 be worn out at the back of the control?
MadMagna wish you weren't a cut lunch and a water bag away. I'd drop in for the fix.
BTW I paid a Mitsubishi dealer to "look and assess" the fan speed and when I said I'd already replaced the resistor all I got was dollar signs being waved at me with indeterminate times and parts to fix.

I've been driving Magna since before some of those apprentices have been born. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

G'day folks, I thought I'd follow up with good news and some advice.
Firstly the good news fixed the fan speed problem.
Here's the advice, like my dearly departed Dad would say, start with the easy stuff first.
Since the original post I had only high speed fan. Yep I'm patient.
I had cause to replace the stereo in the car last week. To do that you pretty much have to remove the whole centre console including the centre instruments including the climate controls.
Anyway I took this as an opportunity to check out the switches. Well what was I thinking? The last time I did this it was a '79 Commodore. Switches in these things has copper contacts the size of roofing nails. Roll forward 25 years and of course, there's circuit boards. So I stopped very quickly. Anyway I successfully fitted a nice Pioneer head unit with Bluetooth so the hands free works like a charm and tunes stream without cables. very civilised.
Anyway as I put the console back together I was in a hurry and threw it all back together and took off. (Trust me the wife would not have been happy if I was late) It was hot, hit the AC and nothing. My heart sank. Nothing works. No fan no AC. Yep I forgot to two plugs that plug into the climate control at the back of the console.
So I pulled over and since you can pull the console apart without tool I removed enough of the console to get the plugs re-seated. What do you know? All my fan speeds returned!
My simple guess is over the years the plug might have corroded up a little or worked free slightly. Pulling and reseating seems to have improved the contact.
Always start with the easy stuff first.
