The on/off button on the cruise control stalk is sticking on the KH, meaning that it wont turn on/off without several tries. Seems to be the button, because if i get the right angle it works. Has anyone encountered this and what was the fix?
Otherwise I'll try flushing it out with silicon spray lubricant.

Yeah my TH wagon did the same - used to have to squirt contact cleaner down the switch every 6 months or so and then toggle the button 20x or so and then all good again.

Tip buy some electronic store contact cleaner like Jaycar or something as it won't hurt the plastic - then depress the cruise button - flood the surrounds of the switch and then exercise your finger 20x or more....

My KJ2 has the same issue. It's not so bad yet so I have not done anything about it.
I do have a spare stalk though which I hope works fine

I have this issue in my KJ, the button just doesn't work sometimes without pressing it around 5-10 times.

I managed to blow air through it a while back which fixed it for a bit. However I really use cruise control so it's not much of an issue for me.

A replacement stalk is about $20 from the wreckers.

Ditto, same issue on the TJ, and I also need to kinda push it on different angles to get it to work most times. Every time I'm like "gotta squirt some contact cleaner in there some day", still haven't done it. I've never taken one apart so have no idea what it looks like in there.

I'd avoid squirting anything that leaves a residue like a spray lubricant, as bb61266 suggests electronics "CO" contact cleaner would be the go as it evaporates completely after dissolving anything gooey.

Contact Cleaner fixes most clagged push button problems. It's great stuff and it is "neutral"...non corrosive.

Sounds like a common problem!

Good point; I've got some 99% pure isopropyl alcohol somewhere I can try, which may flush out any grit and oil. It wont leave any residue at all.

Anyone know if its possible to pop that button off without damage? Can i squeeze it or something?

DON'T USE ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, whatever you do. It can stuff up plastic finishes and it can leave behind traces of a gelatin-like substance they use to stabilise the stuff. Just stick to Contact Cleaner. You can buy it at Jaycar and, I think, Bunnings. Dicky Smith used to sell it but I'm not sure they still carry it.

Well that's interesting! I just checked and I've got a quantity of 100% pure. I know isopropyl alcohol can interact with some plastics, especially if its got other solvents mixed in with it. I was actually thinking the opposite, that the contact cleaner could have a bit of gunk in it.
I've never had any issues like that and I've used iso on a lot of gear, but never the car,TBH. I'll bow to experience and get some contact cleaner tho, thanks for the tip!

CO contact cleaner is pretty much pure hydrocarbons I think, evaporates completely in a few seconds. There are some things it doesn't dissolve well, such as the gunk that builds up in the key fob microswitches, but generally it does the job. My preference would be to dismantle the switch and clean it properly, but I'd want to fiddle with one before attacking the one on the car.

Ok, all fixed. The contact cleaner did a good job, button has been working fine for a few days now.
Hopefully it will stay fixed.

Did you open it up, or just spray from the outside?

Sorry I missed this Spetz! Underneath the lever theres a gap and I Simply sprayed in there. The can delivers a bit of pressure and the fluid will penetrate into the gaps. I'll ask the gf later today how its been.
