My 1995 Magna v6 has been making unpleasant noises from the auxiliary belts for a few weeks.
Based on where the noises appeared to be coming from, I had assumed that the noises were from either the rear idler pulley or the power steering pump. I was planning on getting round to investigating further in time, but, as the car was running fine otherwise, I wasn't in any great hurry.
However, when I started the car this morning there was a thunk and the battery light stayed on.
A bit of investigation found that the bottom pulley (which both belts run off) was hanging loose and both belts were slack.
I removed the pulley and belts but could find no obvious signs of damage to this grooved pulley or the circular unit it came off 😕
Is this pulley just pushed on as there doesn't appear to be any way of securing it back on....
I'm hoping to have the ol' Magnawagon back on the road ASAP, so any guidance on what's gone wrong and how I should fix it would be very much appreciated 👍
