Hi, I picked up a TL AWD over a week ago, I have done the usual tappet covers, plug seals, plugs, coolant brakes etc but I still have a major leak going down the centre between the motor and gearbox, It looks like it is tracking from around the distributor though there is too much oil for that alone.

I have looked at the service manual though it is a bit vague, I notice a thrust case which has an oil seal, wondering if this could be the culprit and how hard it would be to replace. Any ideas or suggestions would be great.

Is there a cam thrust case on the rear bank as well as the front? Looks like the dissie will have to come out anyway.

I just realised that the distributor is the thrust face and that is the seal. I can be silly sometimes and had a chuckle when it dawned on me. Time for strip down and hopefully the dizzie seal will be the culprit.

Probably will be, it goes brittle over time. Distributor can be frustrating to get out especially the back and/or bottom bolt, but only goes back in one way.

Thanks Ammerty. The oil leak was the distributor, it was gushing out pretty badly.
