View Full Version : Timing Belt Alignment?

Hey guys,

Quick question, basically it appears my timing belt has moved sideways? While looking at it with the covers off up top it appears it is sitting slighlty outside the top cog, which is causing it to rub as it travels around scuffing the edge.

The belt tension itself appears fine? can slightly roll up the belt, but yeah appears to have moved and keeps grabbing/scuffing the edges causing a noise and I imagine not the greatest for the engine...

Is it just a case it needs to be re-seated/retension again or?

Cheers

Should be sitting like this.

If it isn't, ask Mal why.

(I could guess, but Mal doesn't like that. lol I'd like to see what he thinks anyway, before I say anything.)

Ok so where in your photo the belt is sitting up against the engine side on the camshaft sproket, mine (on the front, your photo shows the rear but I am guessing will be the same all the way around) is sitting slightly outside the camshaft sproket (so over hanging a couple mm away from the engine) causing it to rub, can post a video if that will help explain if I can figure that out.. lol

Yes, I understand what you mean.
don't need a vid or photo.
Doesn't sound right to me, but wait and see what the Guru says.
