Hi all

Recently hit a kangaroo in the Magna and subsequently have replaced my bonnet with one from the wreckers for $100. The bonnet lining on the new one is pretty shabby, whereas the original is in good nick. I imagine the big buttons on the lining are plastic push in clips that attach the lining to the bonnet. My question is, is it easy to remove them and swap the linings, or will I wreck the clips and/or lining getting them out. Any tips welcome?

Cheers
Graham

Yes, push in plugs. Use two screwdrivers opposite each other to pop them out.
Same size plugs available at your local parts shop. They go brittle and sometimes disintegrate when you remove them.
Probably more important to not damage the lining itself.
The liner itself is flammable if frayed - seen a 4 cylinder catch fire because the front of the liner drooped onto the exhaust. Fortunately a bystander had an extinguisher in his car.

online after some searching by members

we did find a supplier of the plastic clips for mitsubishis

and also a maker of the bonnet heat liners

Rip it out and chuck it in the bin before you need the fire extinguisher..!!

That was the advise from my mate the mechanic...He said later models don't have that crap anyhow.
