I tried to find this on the firewall ID plate but I couldn't work it out. Can anyone tell me the paint code for the silver paint used under the doors and around the bottom of the bumper bars in the Magna Solaras? I scraped the the lower flange under the rear right passenger door and I'd like to get one an aerosol can mixed up at Autobarn so I can cover the scratch (it's minor but I am a perfectionist. I hate scratches and door dings! :eek2: ).

The lower section on TJ Solaras are Pewter (KX)

Get a couple of cans of the KX made up. It's unlikely fresh paint will match the paint on the car due to its age, and you may want to give the pewter on the whole side of the car a fresh coat to make it look even, colour wise.

Maybe no problem with this, see how you go.

Be careful with the colour match. Apparently the earlier kx silver is different to the later models done in this colour. I had some kx pewter silver made up for my ralliart art but it does not match.

Thanks for all the replies...much appreciated. I checked out an automotive paint supplier in Oakleigh (Victoria). The senior guy there is a paint matcher and he matched the paint using the Mitsubishi Pewter as the starting point and then adjusting for the tone on the car now. Worth every cent I paid and he gave me advice on how to sand back the scratch that was there and how to prepare the surface. I also bought a can of clear coat.

I have done the job now and it's hard to tell where the scratch was. Unless you get up really close it all looks hunky-dory. I hate scratches and door dings. I even went as far as buying one of those door ding pulling tools (they look like a giant staple gun). I wish that manufacturers would invent a way for the door panels on a car to self-heal. I know that Nissan has a paint which self-heals from scratches but an anti-door ding system would be cool. (I know...I'll stop smoking the pipe dream pipe now!)
