Just thought I'd post this cos I thought it'd be useful for others...
My three year old thought it'd be a great idea to use my key fob as a whip, smash it open and then throw it in the mop bucket (which was full)... Found my keys (and fob in pieces) about 6 hr's later when I finally emptied it! I wasn't to impressed by I dried it out, left it in a small closed container of rice for a few days, put a new battery in and tried it... Didn't work!! Checked the metal connectors on the circuit board, they looked fine, no cracks, no movement of battery board etc..
Disgruntled I left it for a week and then thought, "maybe I should reprogram it?"... Did that and it worked!!!
Pretty pleased with that as I was about to buy a new one!! Still need to resolder my spare as I ripped the battery mount off trying to pull the battery out... Oops!!!
